Incumbent is responsible for the full range of Laundry Worker duties associated with a consolidated laundry operation, weighing the materials to be processed, assuring that the correct materials are sorted to the proper areas. Incumbent will operate the washers, extractors, and other equipment that is used in the processing of the linens, in the absence of the machine operators. Incumbent operates flatwork ironer and small piece folders. Prepares each for the operation and makes necessary adjustments to variables such as speed and pressure for different types of materials to be processed. Incumbent closely observes quality of work to ensure all finished products are acceptable. Incumbent must watch material when being processed so to be able to pull stained, tom or if material is to be salvaged, or reprocessed. Incumbent performs a combination of shaking, feeding, catching hanging, folding and stacking functions as time permits. Incumbent must be able to work both sides of the Laundry production system. Incumbent will be involved in daily linen counts for linen processed. Incumbent must be accurate in counting and reporting the production of the linen. Incumbent will be responsible to assure that the Laundry areas are kept clean and safe. Incumbent must keep all the equipment used during the sorting of linen clean and report any safety or mechanical problems to the Laundry Supervisor. Incumbent may be used to perform other duties associated with the production of the Linen process. Incumbent must follow all safety regulations, policies, and guidelines associated with the production of the Laundry and Medical Center. Work Schedule:

Experience:
A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Physical Requirements:
Incumbent needs strength and stamina for doing heavy physical tasks for a long period. Incumbent will be pulling dirty laundry, wet laundry, heavy carts, lifting heavy bundles over fifty (50) pounds. Incumbent will be standing and walking continuously. Working Conditions:
Incumbent will be working in an environment that is noisy. hot / wet, and humid. Incumbent is constantly exposed to minor bruises, minor cuts and strains. Incumbent works with linen that is exposed to blood and other fluids that could be contaminated. Incumbent must be capable of wearing protection devices. caps, gowns, masks, etc.
