Program Specialist

The MHV Program Coordinator functions as liaison between VAMC management/staff, the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) MHVPC, and the MHV National Program. Develops and updates a facility specific MHV implementation plan to address local efforts and challenges to include developing a mission/vision statement, establishing a local team, leading team efforts, identifying local providers as champions, and developing MHV roles and responsibilities. Establishes MHV-related goals, develops/implements strategies autonomously to meet goals, identifies responsible parties, tracks progress, including monitoring goals/activity status, and monthly reports status/progress to medical center management, as required. MHVPC serves as a SM champion and coordinates efforts of SM facility and clinical champions, SM implementation and healthcare/triage teams to implement SM. Assists in identifying clinic communication/workflow processes. Leads facility efforts to integrate MHV and SM among healthcare providers and patients. Serves as SM liaison to VISN and National MHV teams. Functions as SM Administrator responsible for the technical set up and maintenance of Healthcare/Triage Team lists, generates reports, and monitors SM escalated messages. Creates/utilizes an MHV implementation checklist provided at the national level for activities associated with each new release of MHV. Works closely with medical center clinicians, Chief of Staff, and/or the Associate Director to encourage involvement and knowledge of MHV information and for approval of promoting/training strategies within the VAMC and in the community. Establishes an MHV team, holds monthly team meetings, and effectively coordinates MHV team activities. Participates in monthly MHVPC and VISN conference calls, attends MHV-related training, and shares lessons learned from this training with team members, other facility staff, and management. Provides one-on-one or group training to providers on a regular basis to encourage involvement with the MHV Program and informs clinicians of new releases and time frames, as well as answers questions related to the MHV Program. Receives and distributes MHV related training and marketing materials from National Program Office and customizes for local use with approval and oversight of Patient Education Committee. Coordinates technical staff efforts to ensure that MHV computers and related equipment are functioning and available to MHV users. Works closely with IRM staff to ensure that appropriate software is loaded and operational in a timely manner and that MHV PCs are functioning and maintained properly. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-9 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
providing data management, training and understanding of facility clinical processes/workflow and ability to facilitate, negotiate, and mitigate SM-related challenges effectively. The ability to establish work objectives, set priorities, assign tasks, coordinate operations, monitor/report work progress, and initiate corrective actions as required to ensure that team efforts are accomplished in an efficient and timely manner as an Program Specialist in the medical center. Physical demands of the position include:
Most work is performed in an office setting and the work is sedentary. Occasionally, the position will require standing, walking, lifting, and restocking of supplies (weighing 10 pounds or less). The work requires typical safety precautions in working with office equipment and avoiding accidents. The work may also require occasional local travel to neighboring veteran healthcare facilities and clinical outpatient centers and out of town/state for required/suggested training. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts, which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and computer training rooms, or library facility. The incumbent will maintain a safe working environment for self and clients. Attend safety training as mandated by medical center policies and procedures. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
