Program Support Assistant (Social Work HUD-VASH)

This position is being announced at the GS-6 level. The Full-Performance Level of this position is GS-6. The incumbent functions as the Program Support Assistant in Social Work Service HUD-VASH, as assigned by supervisor. Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
Coordinates and processes a wide variety of transactions subject to different sets of rules and regulations independently. Provides information regarding the clinical administration and performance improvement activities and resources available. Incumbent keeps personal contacts with all levels of nursing and medical center staff, supervisory and non-supervisory personnel, fiscal service and other services on an intermittent basis. Provides ongoing reports/updates to the Chief of Social Work for the smooth operation of the service. Compiles and updates data for analysis and prepares local VISN-wide reports. Maintains a filing system according to current VAMC regulations for promoting easy file retrieval. Coordinates Social Work Clinical Staff, Meetings and Committees chaired and co-chaired by the Associate Chief, Social Work, and other committee meetings. Utilizes computerized data management programs to maintain accurate tracking records and provides data in a timely manner. Interprets and applies regulatory and procedural requirements to process necessary transactions. Resolves conflicts, provides smooth working communication, and excellent customer service. Uses various software packages such as Micorsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Word, and Publisher. Receives and provides information to clinical administration and performance improvement programs for resolving operating problems, and/or the enhancement of customer service. Uses the Veterans Health Information & Technology Architecture (VISTA) to access information in the Medical Center Computer System. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Applicants must have held grade GS-5 or higher for at least 52 weeks to be eligible for the GS-6 grade level. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note:

One year of demonstrated specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level that required knowledge of procedures and techniques to carry out the work directly applicable to this position. Examples of specialized experience may include, but are not limited to:
receiving phone calls and visitors, and referring inquiries to the appropriate staff members; providing routine, non-technical information from knowledge of the front office and medical enter functions and policies; utilizing clinical and administrative applications to prepare reports under supervision; using email, appointment scheduling, calendar and spreadsheets to support the goals of the office; preparing/updating hospital memorandums under direct supervision; tracking documents through the review and approval process; establishing and maintaining office files of correspondence, reports and other documentation; reviewing documentation for grammar, format and regulatory/policy errors; preparing, under supervision, supporting materials for use at various meetings; coordinating travel arrangements. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
