Practical Nurse - Primary Care (PACT)

The Duties of the Licensed Practical Nurse include:
Performing enterostomal care, perinea! care, administering enemas and colostomy irrigations, while considering age specific needs, e.g. the geriatric patients' need for a bedpan. Providing bowel/bladder training, applying external urinary devices, performing bladder catheterization. Providing oral, nasopharangeal and tracheal suctioning, tracheostomy care, administering oxygen. Providing physical/emotional care to respirator dependent patients. Administering enteral feedings. Providing wound care and reporting any changes and/or progress to the RN. Performing peritoneal dialysis. Applying abdominal binders, anti-embolic stockings, ace bandages and alternating pressure boots. Providing for lifting, moving, transferring, and/or transporting patients. Using patient lifting devices, pressure relief mattresses, hyper/hypothermia blankets, electronic scales, feeding pumps. Providing post mortem care. Applying protective/supporting devices, restraints. Implements established care plan. Reports and documents progress or changes in patient's behavior and/or physical condition to the RN and in the medical record. Performs check of emergency equipment Recognizes and initiates emergency measures consistent with training. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule:

U.S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Graduate of an ACEN approved LPN school. State LPN/LVN License. English Language proficiency. Basic Life Support Certification (BLS). May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Experience:
2-3 years of current experience as an LPN in areas appropriate to Primary Care (Med/Surg, Outpatient clinics, ER, etc). Desired Qualities:

None beyond the basic requirements; GS-4:
6 months of qualifying experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse equivalent to a GS-3 level. GS-5:
At least 2 years of qualifying experience (Federal or non-Federal) one of which would be considered equivalent to level work as a LPN. This experience would have been gained in a critical care or similar advanced care environment. GS-6:
At least 3 years of qualifying experience (Federal or non-Federal) one of which would be considered equivalent to the GS-5 level work as indicated above. This experience must have demonstrated that the candidate possesses the knowledge and ability to provide a full range of practical nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavioral problems. One year of this experience must have been performing higher level duties in clinical areas as referred to in level 5. Prefer at least one year of experience in a Nursing Home or long term care center. References:

are those specified in VA Directive and Handbook 5019. This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. Mechanical inpatient lifts are provided. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations, operative/invasive procedures, or home settings. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
