LEAD MEDICAL SUPPORT ASSISTANT

The Lead MSA monitors and makes work assignments, in conjunction with priorities set by the supervisor, provides input on performance, resolves daily workplace issues, escalating to supervisor when necessary, and maintains efficient workflow. The Lead MSA is the point of contact for all special projects and deliverables associated with scheduling workflow within the clinics, including MSA training requirements, employee orientation, and all aspects of delivery of scheduling per the National Scheduling Directive. Assignments at this level include, but are not limited to:
assuring coverage of all areas of responsibility; conducting ongoing reviews to ensure quality of work; ensuring accurate and timely scheduling of appointments; providing guidance to staff members to include changes in policies and procedures; distributing and balancing workload; creating and maintaining employee work schedules; orienting and providing on-the-job training for new and current employees; ensuring all training requirements are met; organizing the work structure of his/her assigned areas; and acting as liaison between MSA and staff in order to resolve day to day conflicts. If assigned to the Primary Care section, the Lead MSA will also function as back-up to the primary PCMM Lead MSA, to ensure the maximum efficiency of the Primary Care clinic operations through creative and appropriate utilization of resources, support to and involvement in, optimal management information system data gathering, analysis, validation and presentation. Acts as a resource to clinical staff in troubleshooting of DHCP, VistA and PCMM software applications associated with the Primary Care Clinic treatment area. Incumbent utilizes CPRS in conjunction with other clinical software platforms to validate data and triage patient information which may be pertinent to provider assignments, when dual eligibility exists. Will serve as primary back-up NEAR disposition during absence of PCMM Lead. For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, administrative independence, complexity (difficulty) and range of variety as described in this standard at the specified grade level and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time. Experience:
Six months experience of clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position; or Education:
One year above high school; or Experience/Education Combination:
Equivalent combination of experience and education are qualifying for entry level for which both education and experience are acceptable. Grade Determinations:

Experience:
One year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of this type of experience include:
working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model; coordinating with a patient care team to review clinic utilization by using various reports to ensure that the clinic setup is closely monitored, effectively support the needs of the clinic, and make any necessary adjustments; developing/maintaining effective and efficient communication with the patient, interdisciplinary team, medical centers, and other agencies; assisting with communications during the inpatient to outpatient discharge; facilitating/processing secure messaging with the patient and team; notifying patients of normal lab results; developing and managing a tracking system for follow up care such as consults and tests; participating in team huddles and team meetings to manage and plan patient care; setting priorities and deadlines, adjusting the flow and sequencing of the work to meet team and patient needs; working with a team to reinforce the plan of care and self-help solutions and entering appropriate information into the electronic record; monitoring pre-appointment requirements to assure readiness for patient visit/procedure (e.g., X-ray, lab work); managing electronic wait list to verify and validate accuracy and resolve issues; participating and providing input in problem solving on operational issues or procedures in team meetings, performing administrative follow up actions; participating in and independently following up on team huddles by sharing information and collaborating with the medical team to assure continuity of care; evaluating patient information and clinic schedule lists to determine whether patient is vested; educating providers about patients. The work is mostly sedentary but requires some bending and walking to various locations of the medical facility and DHCP. The position also requires dexterity in using a CRT/printer.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
